Impact & reporting

The numbers, including the ones that are still zero.

A new organisation asking for money should show its books before it has a record to be proud of. This page exists from day one so you can watch it change.

  • 100%

Of spending reported to a named school

Not a target — a condition of how we disburse. Every payment is tied to a school, a receipt and a result.

Our first cohort is in progress, so these figures are honestly zero. We publish them from day one so you can watch them move — and hold us to them if they don't.

We have not refurbished a library yet.

AVID was incorporated in 2026 and is selecting its first cohort of schools in Lagos. Everything on this page is therefore a goal and a method, not an achievement — and it is labelled that way throughout. When the first library opens, its record appears on our transparency wall and these figures move.

What we measure

Six measures, and only one of them counts books.

It is easy to report deliveries. Whether children read more is harder, slower and the only thing that matters. We assess reading fluency and comprehension at baseline and at follow-up intervals so that we can answer the real question.

Reach
Libraries refurbished; pupils with access; schools served.
Usage
Books borrowed per pupil per term; library visits per week; reading periods timetabled.
Learning
Reading fluency and comprehension assessed at baseline and at follow-up intervals.
Equity
Participation disaggregated by gender, with specific attention to girls' access and usage.
Durability
Proportion of libraries still open, stocked and staffed at 12 and 24 months.
Stewardship
Cost per pupil reached; proportion of expenditure reaching programme delivery.

Our reporting commitments

Five promises you can check.

  1. 01

Every disbursement is tied to a school

We do not make general grants. Each payment references a named school, a milestone and a receipt.

  2. 02

    Annual financial statements

Published here each year, alongside our annual return filings.

  3. 03

A report to every donor, naming the school

If you funded a shelf, you get the photograph of that shelf. If you funded a library, you get the full record.

  4. 04

Durability measured at 12 and 24 months

We report the proportion of libraries still open, stocked and staffed — including the ones that are not.

  5. 05

We publish what did not work

A library that closes is a failure we will describe, not omit. This is the commitment most easily broken, so we are stating it first.

Annual reports and statements

Documents, as they exist.

Filing status

AVID was incorporated in 2026. Our first financial year is in progress, so there is no annual report to publish yet. Our first statements and annual return will be posted on this page when filed.

In the meantime, if you are assessing us for a grant and need our incorporation documents, board list, conflict-of-interest policy, safeguarding policy or draft budget, email applications@theavidfoundation.org and we will send them. We would rather be asked than assumed about.

Help us put the first number on this page.
